
Edward F. Smith, CFA, is a finance educator and wealth management professional with over 40 years of experience spanning capital markets, international equities, portfolio management, and corporate and regulatory governance. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brown University, and has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Edward's industry career includes roles at Goldman Sachs as a proprietary trader, Nordea Bank as head equity trader, and Bank of America Wealth Management as a portfolio manager, as well as serving as Chief State Bank Examiner for the State of Rhode Island. He currently manages client portfolios through EF Smith Management LLC.
In addition to his professional practice, Edward brings extensive classroom experience to his teaching, with a focus on connecting academic theory to real-world financial practice. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Connecticut, where he teaches courses in Financial Institutions, Financial Markets, and Personal Finance at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has also taught undergraduate and MBA students at Berkeley College. His broad background in wealth management, portfolio strategy, and financial markets informs his approach to helping students build the knowledge and skills needed to advance in the financial services industry.
